This process consists, in succession, in carrying out an intimate mixing of alumina and alkali metal carbonate powders, in heating the said intimate mixture in an open crucible, in allowing this mixture to cool freely, in crushing the powder thus obtained, in carrying out the shaping of the components and in sintering the latter, in which process, after the shaping, an alkali metal compound is deposited on the surface of the components in contact with the atmosphere, the said sintering being carried out by heating the components at a temperature between 1500 DEG and 1700 DEG C for 5 minutes to 4 hours, and in then allowing to cool to room temperature. The components thus manufactured can be used as solid electrolytes in sodium/sulphur generators. |
