Hypocholesterolaemic microporous, resin is new comprising crosslinked polystyrene contg. active alkylamino and/or alkylammonim gps., the form of the pores corresp. stereospecifically to bile acid molecules, and having the following characteristics; exchange capacity 3.9-6 meq/g; porosity 0.4-0.6 cm3/g; mean pore dia. 150-200 Angstrom; specific superficial area 70-100 m2/g; real density 0.9-1.1 g/cm3; apparent density 0.5-0.6g/cm3. Used in treatment of hypocholesterodaemia by capture of bile acids in the intestine and breaking the enterophepatic recirculation. A typical resin, was prepd. from a mixt. of styrene, divinylbenzene, squalane, bentonite and lauroyl peroxide as catalyst, the prod. is chloromethylated, swelled with toluene and autoclaved with NMe3 to give a resin with an exchange capacity of 3.9 meq/g. and a mean pore diam. of 200 Angstrom.
|
