PURPOSE:To obtain a serial printer capable of printing at optimal positions regardless of various factors pertinent to the accuracy of papers by a method in which longitudinal lines and marks are preprinted by the same printing plate, and the starting position of printing is controlled by detected signals of a mark reader. CONSTITUTION:A mark reader 13 is mounted in the vicinity of a printing head 1 on a carrier 2. When the carrier 2 is moved to the left end, marks preprinted on a paper are detected by the reader 13 for obtaining control signals of starting positions of printing. Printing can thus be made on the preprinted lines without effects of the cutting accuracy of paper, the accuracy of starting position of printing, and expansion and contraction by temperature and humidity. |
