<p>Process comprises (a) hermetically sealing a storage container of fruit and flower prods., maintaining suitable temp. and humidity conditions; (b) connecting the chamber to ethylene eliminating equipment consisting of a fan followed by a filter made of a metal core filled with absorbent material of silica granules impregnated with potassium permanganate or other type of granules; (c) drawing a current of air mixed with ethylene from the chamber by means of the fan, through the filter which retains part or all of the ethylene, at the same time injecting pure gas into the chamber to maintain uniform pressure; and (d) continuously monitoring the retention capacity of the absorbent.</p> |
