PURPOSE:To obtain a high output at a high frequency by using a Hall element arranged at the under surface of an auxiliary magnetic pole opposed to a main magnetic pole for the reproduction. CONSTITUTION:When the main magnetic pole 5 approaches the position of signal magnetization 14 recorded on a hard magnetic layer 4 of a medium 1 at reproduction, a magnetic flux 24 is drawn from the magnetization by the width (d) of the main magnetic pole, this passes through a soft magnetic layer 3 under lining and flows to the front face of the auxiliary magnetic pole 7 with spread. The magnetic flux 24 crosses the Hall element 8 and a signal output appears across the Hall element 8. Thus, the Hall element is provided to the end of the auxiliary magnetic pole at the side of the recording medium so that the element and the medium are not directly contacted thereby outputting a reproducing signal to the element. Thus, the resolution of the head depends on the film thicknss of the main magnetic pole and the magnetic characteristic not depending on the resolution of the Hall element itself and the magnetic head with high resolution and high output is realized. |
