The esters of formula (I) in which R1 is 1-4C alkyl, R2 and R3 are H or halogen, nitro, thiocyanate, opt. branched 1-8C alkyl, alkaryl e.g. benzyl, phenyl or other substit. gps., are made by reaction of an o-phenylene diamine of formula (II) with alkyl N-(dichloromethylene) carbamate cpds. of formula (III).
