<p>The process comprises (a) reacting 270.5g stearyl alcohol and 0.5g sodium hydroxide powder in a 1.5l reactor heated to 150 deg.C; (b) introducing 176 g ethylene oxide at normal pressure and at 150-190 deg.C; (c) at the end of the reaction flooding the reactor with nitrogen and cooling to 70 deg.C; (d) adding 71 g phosphorus pentoxide and leaving to react for 6-8 hours at 75-80 deg.C; and (e) pouring the reaction product into 1645 g sodium hydroxide of 2.43% concn. to form a neutral soln. contg. 25% partial phosphoric ester.</p> |
