The mirrors are made by (a) dissolving 400 g. anhydrous sodium carbonate in 6 l. dist. water; (b) dissolving 60g. gold chloride in 2 l. dist. water; (c) mixing the solns. and heating to 55 deg. C: (d) adding 30g. selenium dioxide and dissolving; (e) filtering and allowing to cool; (f) suitably preparing the glass surface and pouring 120 ml. 40% formalin over it; and (g) pouring the above mixt. in pasty state over the prepd. glass.
