The installation has an explosion chamber (1) in the form of a tube, which is closed at one end, and, connected thereto, a device (2) for supplying a gas mixture and a device (3) for supplying the powder. The installation control system contains a control unit (17) which is electrically connected via control loops (18, 19, 20 and 21) to a spark plug (16) which is accommodated inside the tube, to a valve (15) of a metering appliance (12) of the device (3) for supplying the powder and to valves (5, 6 and 7) of a mixing appliance (4) of the device (2) for supplying the gas mixture. The control system furthermore has a feedback circuit (22) having a transmitter (33) which is arranged in front of the open end of the tube and is connected to an electromagnetic relay (30) which has contacts (31, 32 and 33) in control loops (18, 19 and 20). In order to switch off the explosion plating installation automatically in the event of reaction (blowback) or if a shot fails, the feedback circuit (22) is provided with a logic, exclusive OR circuit (24). One of the inputs of this circuit is connected via a signal forming device (26) to the transmitter (23), and the other is connected via a delay element (28) to the spark plug (16), and the output is connected to the winding of the electromagnetic relay (30). <IMAGE>
