The system comprises a read head 11 resting on the textile article M carrying marks to be detected which passes underneath; a group of optical fibres 13, 13A, 13B, with branches towards a light energy source 17 and to an optoelectronic transducer 19, picks up the signal caused by the marks made on the surface of the moving article; electronic means amplify, shape and select the useful signal. <IMAGE>
