PURPOSE:To facilitate the automation of the titled device by a method wherein the characteristics of a rotary transformer are detected from an electric characteristics detecting means and a position detecting means, and a stop position in accordance with the detected characteristics is determined. CONSTITUTION:A measuring instrument with which the inductance of a rotary transformer is measured and another measuring instrument with which position is measured are provided in a press-inserting device 1. The signals detected by these measuring instruments are fed to a controlling device. The data with which the optimum stop position in accordance with the characteristics of the rotary transformer is inputted to the controlling device 13 in advance. The optimum position is determined by the controlling device in accordance with the rotary transformer based on the detected signal of said measuring instruments.
