The present invention relates to a lightened safety armature for a steering wheel. This armature is characterised in that, at two points of the circle 1, between the centres of which there exists an angular distance of approximately 110 DEG , there end the two ends 2a of a double spoke 2 which are contracted so as to prevent a flattened zone ending in a bevel, so as to better fit to the profile of the circle 1, and in that the junction of these two parts is made by means of an aluminium flange 4 injected over the flattened zone, having the external shape of a T whose head matches the curvature of the circle 1, whereas the stem is assembled to the flattened end portion 2a of the spoke 2, also matching the shape of the latter. <IMAGE>
