The invention relates to a tension rod for stabilising the earth in hollow structures, having a tube (1), anchored in the bore, and cavities which are filled with plastic and are located between the bore and the tube and in the interior of the tube. In the case of said tension rod, a nut (20) is screwed onto a thread (9) in order to produce prestressing in the tube. In order that the thread (9) is connected in a frictionally locking manner to the tube (1), the latter is provided with radial, longitudinally running slots (2). The slotted tube (1) is expanded by means of a mandrel such that an axially closed inner cavity is formed between the mandrel and the tube. An outer cavity is formed by a casting mould, enclosing the tube in the region of this inner cavity, and, by filling the two cavities which are connected by the expanded slots, a thread (9) connected to the tube in a frictionally locking manner by wedging action can be produced. Consequently, the tube can be tensioned by a force of several tonnes. <IMAGE>
