PURPOSE:To improve responsiveness without deteriorating averaging effect by moving forth and back a detection part head almost at right angles to the running direction of the sheet type body, and varying a coefficient of averaging according to the number of times of data processing at measurement points. CONSTITUTION:The detection part head 4 consisting of a ray source part 2 and a detection part 3 is moved forth and back almost at right angles to the running direction of the sheet type body and a control arithmetic part 6 performs the movement averaging process of a signal detected at every predetermined measurement point to generate a breadthwise characteristic signal. At this time, when alpha<1/m where (m) is the number of times of data processing at each measurement point and alpha is the averaging coefficient, the averaging coefficient alpha is replaced by 1/m and simple averaging processing is performed. Therefore, the number of times of arithmetic for the averaging coefficient alpha decreases as compared with a conventional method and the responsibility is improved without any deterioration in averaging effect. |
