<p>PURPOSE:To resolve the degradation of the contrast on a display picture with TFTs whose switching time is long, by accessing segment electrodes in every two-column unit to double the switching allowable time of corresponding TFTs. CONSTITUTION:TFTs (thin film transistors) 2'... in odd columns and TFTs 2''... in even columns which have sources connected to segment electrodes 1... and have amorphous silicon layers are formed to face each other respectively, and gates of TFTs 2',2''... are connected to one common gate lines 4' extended between columns. Meanwhile, eight drain lines 3'... different from one another are connected to drains of TFTs 2'... and TFTs 2''... to reduce the number of lines 4'... to a half and to double the number of lines 3'...; however, when a timing signal is supplied to lines 4'..., TFTs 2',2''... corresponding to two columns are turned on simultaneously, and segments corresponding to every two columns to which a video signal is supplied from lines 3'... are displayed in time division, thereby doubling the access time of TFTs 2',2''....</p> |
