PURPOSE:To improve the wear resistance of a magnetic head by contracting the magnetic part consisting of magnetic pole pieces having soft magnetism in such a manner that the track width is smaller than the core width near the gap and packing glass contg. a kneaded lubricant into the contracted part thereby constituting the contact surface with a magnetic recording medium. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic pole pieces 2, 3 having soft magnetism and consisting of ferrite, ''Sendust'', amorphous, etc. having the core width TW1 are positioned to face each other via a magnetic gap 4. The magnetic parts consisting of the pieces 2, 3 is so contracted and narrowed near the gap 4 in such a manner that a track width TW2 attains TW2<TW1. The glass contg. the kneaded lubricant is packed into the contracted parts 21, 31 to constitute the contact surface with the magnetic recording medium. The solid lubricant consisting of molybdenum disulfide, tungsten disulfide, molybdenum selenide, tungsten selenide, calcium fluoride, lead oxide, graphite, etc. alone or the combination thereof is used as the lubricating agent. The wear resistance is thus considerably improved in either case of the binder type and non-binder type magnetic recording medium. |
