NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (R1 is H or lower alkyl; R2 is 3-12C alicyclic alkyl which may have lower alkyl group, or a lower alkyl which may have 3-6C alicyclic alkyl group) and its salt. EXAMPLE:Cyclohexyloxycarbonyloxymethyl 7beta-[ 2-( 2-aminothiazol-4-yl )-acetamido-[ 3-[[[1-( 2-dimethylaminoethyl )-1H-tetrazol-5-yl ]thio]-methyl]ceph-3-em-4- carboxylate dihydrochloride. USE:Antibacterial agent for oral administration effective to Gram-positive bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria, etc. PREPARATION:The objective compound can be prepared by esterifying 7beta- [2-(2-aminothiazol-4-yl)acetamido]-3-[[[1-(2-dimethylaminoethyl)-1H-te trazol-5-yl]- thio]methyl]ceph-3-em-4-carboxylic acid with the compound of formula II (x is halogen).
