NEW MATERIAL:Tetrahydro-3a-hydroxy-7a,8-dimethyl-2,5-methano-1,3-benzodi oxol-6(3a 11)-one. USE:An antispasmodic agent. It is a metabolic product of paeoniflorin (a component of Paeonia albiflora) by enteric bacterial, having antispasmodic activity and useful for the remedy of epilepsy, etc. PREPARATION:Fresh human ejecta is put into vinyl bag filled with CO2 gas, and is diluted with an anaerobic bacteria diluent composed of the salt solution I (0.7% K2HPO4 solution), the salt solution II [a solution containing 0.47% K2HPO4, 1.18% NaCl, 1.20% (NH4)2SO4 and 0.25% MgSO4), resazurin, Na2CO3, agar, L-cystein, aqueous solution of L-ascorbic acid and purified water. The obtained dispersion of enteric bacteria is added with paeoniflorin, and cultured under heating. The cultured liquid is extracted with an organic solvent such as chloroform, and treated with a silica gel column chromatography to obtain the compound of formula. |
