The present invention relates to hospitalisation beds. The bed according to the invention is characterised essentially by the fact that it comprises a frame 1 having a head 3 and a foot, two underframes 5, telescopic means 8 connecting the underframes to the head and to the foot of the frame, at least two motors 10 for controlling, in each case, a telescopic means, each motor being situated on each underframe, the telescopic means 8 consisting of a threaded rod 21 connected to the motor 10, a hollow tube 23 having an inner thread 24 complementing that of the rod, the first tube having a polygonal outer cross-section 25, means 29 for joining the first tube to the frame, a second hollow tube 26 having an inner cross-section 27 substantially complementing the outer cross-section of the first tube 23, the second tube being mounted slideably on the first one and being fixed by means 28 on the underframe 5. <IMAGE>
