<p>PURPOSE:To produce a coloring material having excellent light resistance, by removing water from an aq. soln. of a specified colored polymer and dissolving the residue in an alcohol solvent. CONSTITUTION:0.1-60wt% ethylenically unsaturated sulfonic acid (salt) [e.g. styrenesulfonic acid (sodium salt)] or 3-50wt% monomer mixture thereof with not more than 40wt% copolymerizable monomer (e.g. methyl acrylate) is polymerized in the presence of a radical polymn. initiator in water to obtain an aq. soln. of a polymer. The pH of said aq. soln. of the polymer is adjusted to 2-7 by adding an org. acid, an inorg. acid or NaOH, and a basic dye is then added thereto. Alternatively, said monomer (mixture) is polymerized in the presence of said basic dye to obtain a 1-50wt% aq. soln. of a colored polymer. The aq. soln. is dried to remove water and the residue is dissolved in a solvent mainly composed of an alcohol. USE:Coloring material for wooden articles, fibers, paints and ink.</p> |
