PURPOSE:To prevent a splitting phenomenon from occurring and enhance printing quality in shadow printing, by providing an assigning means for assigning selection of a line width of a plurality of kinds of types, and a shift quantity controlling means for varying the quantity of shift in corresponding with the line width of the basis of the assignment of selection. CONSTITUTION:The type of a type wheel 10 is assigned by an assigning button 19a on an operating panel 19, whereby a line width (w) is also assigned. According to an assigning signal (f), a main controlling part 20 sets ON a flag for a relevant set point in a setting part. When printing information (a) containing shadow printing is sent to the part 20 and printing is started, a carriage is moved while performing normal printing, and each time printing data for a character accompanied by shadow printing assigning data b1 are outputted from a line buffer, a signal b1 corresponding to the set point for which the flag is set ON is sent to a current-controlling part 21, a reference voltage for an analog switch corresponding to the desired quantity of shift is selected, and a corresponding quantity of electric current is fed out from the part 21, whereby a spacing motor 7 is rotated to move the carriage by the desired quantity of shift. Accordingly, characters printed in shadow printing are prevented from being split, and printing quality is enhanced. |
