PURPOSE:To improve working speed by constituting a discharge condition detector such that whether or not the discharge is satisfactory is judged by the output of said detector to control a gap between a nozzle and work. CONSTITUTION:Discharge voltage, current or the like are detected by a discharge condition detector 20 and sent to the input of a judging uniy 21. The judging unit 21 judges whether or not the input is satisfactory and if the discharge condition is satisfactory, X, Y positional information is generated from a numerical control unit 22 to X, Y axis transfer unit 23, 24 through AND circuit 25, 26 for working. If the discharge condition is not satisfactory, AND circuits 25, 26 are closed and motors 11, 11' for moving forward and backward nozzle 4, 4' are driven to advance and retreat the nozzles 4, 4' relative to a work so that a gap between the work and the nozzles 4, 4' is controlled to improve the discharge condition. In the satisfactory condition, AND circuits 25, 26 are opened for electric discharge machining. By this constitution, an optimum condition can be always maintained for high speed working. |
