PURPOSE:To prevent a cover from vibrating by sensing magnetic flux leaking from the transformer, reactor, etc., of the power unit of a flash lamp and to reduce noises during the operation of the device by covering at least part of the power unit with the cover made of a nonmagnetic body. CONSTITUTION:Discharge electrodes 4 and 4 of the flash lamp 1 are connected to the charging and discharging circuit 9 of the power unit 8 through terminals 51 and 52, and a trigger electrode 6 is connected to the trigger circuit 10 of the power unit 8 through a terminal 7. Then, the whole of the power unit consisting of the charging and discharging circuit 9 and trigger circuit 10 is covered with the cover 11. Charges accumulated in a charging and discharging capacitor 12 are discharged between the discharge electrodes 4 and 4 of the flash lamp 1 through a reactor 18 for discharge control when a trigger pulse voltage is applied to the trigger electrode 6 and then the flash lamp 1 flashes. The cover 11 is made of a nonmagnetic body such as stainless steel or resin and never magnetized with leaking magnetic flux from the transformer 15 and reactors 16 and 18, thereby reducing noises due to vibrations. |
