Materials made with vinylidene chloride methylacrylate copolymer having a methylacrylate content of at least about 8 percent by weight. Single and multiple layer structures, including sheets, laminates, films, packages and the like, made with a layer of the subject vinylidene chloride methylacrylate copolymer benefit from improved properties of elongation, tensile energy absorption, secant modulus, and impact strength. Subjectively, such materials are quieter and softer than comparable films having lower methylacrylate content and equivalent additives. In the alternative, the materials can be made with lower levels of, or no, plasticizer additive, without a significant reduction in barrier properties.
