PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound having photochromic characteristics without isomerization nor decomposition, by reacting a trimethylindolenine derivative with an alkyl halide derivative, and adding and reacting a basic substance and nitrosonaphthol derivative therewith. CONSTITUTION:A trimethylindolenine derivative expressed by formula I (R1 is H, halogen, nitro, cyano, 1-5C alkyl or alkoxyl) is reacted with an alkyl halide derivative expressed by the formula R4-X[R4 is 1-20C (substituted) alkyl; X is halogen] in an amount of preferably 0.8-2 times that of the trimethylindolenine derivative at 30-160 deg.C for 0.1-8hr, and a basic substance, preferably pyridine and a nitrosonaphthol derivative expressed by formula II (R2 is H, COOH, 1-5C alkyl, etc.; R3 is H, halogen, 1-5C alkyl, etc.) are added and reacted with the reaction mixture without isolating the resultant product to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula III. |
