PURPOSE:To reduce the size and cost of the device by selecting a mode in which plural different colored particles are superposed on the same latent image successively and a mode in which different colored toner particles are stuck on different latent images. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive drum 11 which rotates as shown by an arrow is charged 12 electrostatically and exposed 14 to an image signal obtained by scanning an original (not shown in figure) to form an electrostatic latent image. Developing devices 15-18 contain colored toner particles of, for example, yellow, magenta, cyan, and black, and a control part (not shown in figure) controls the bias to the developing device containing desired colored toner to stick the colored toner on the latent image on the photosensitive drum 11. Then, electrostatic charging 19 before transfer or exposure 20 is performed when necessary. Then, tranfer to a form P, separation 21, and fixation 22 are carried out. Consequently, a copy of a desired intermediate color is taken by sticking colored toner particles on the same latent image successively. On the other hand, the drum is rotated several times to perform exposure 14 while filters are replaced, and colored toner particles of developing devices corresponding to the colors of the filters are stuck to perform an area-by-area coloring process. |
