PURPOSE:To enable neutral loss scanning to be relatively easily performed by sweeping the electric field voltage of a superposed field according to a given formula and sweeping the intensity of a magnetic or electric field according to a given formula. CONSTITUTION:Parent ions pass through an electric field 3 according to formula ( I ) and daughter ions pass through the electric field 3 according to formula (II). In these formulae, ae represents the radius of the orbit of ions in the electric field 3 and d1 represents the distance between electrodes 7 and 7'. And, V20 and V2 represent the voltage levels of the electric field 3 produced when parent ions and daughter ions pass through the electric field 3 respectively. Formula (III) is obtained from formulae ( I ) and (II). Therefore, neutral loss scanning where daughter ions are excluded can be performed by sweeping the voltage (V1) of the superposed field and sweeping the voltage (V2) of the electric field 3 according to formula (III). Consequently, it is possible to relatively easily perform neutral loss scanning. |
