PURPOSE:To increase the sharpness of an image by forming a layer contg. a compound having a group which is eliminated by a redox reaction to produce a development retarding compound which is then converted into a compound having no development retarding effect in a developing soln. on a support. CONSTITUTION:A layer contg. at least one kind of compound having a group which is eliminated by a redox reaction to produce a development retarding compound which is then converted into a compound having practically no development retarding effect or a remarkably reduced development retarding effect in a developing soln. is formed on a support to manufacture a silver halide photographic sensitive material. A compound represented by the formula (where each of A and A' is H or an alkali-hydrolyzable group, and each of X, Y and Z is H, alkyl or optionally substituted with halogen) is preferably used as said compound. |
