PURPOSE:To decrease deformation of crystal lattice and suppress conversion of an electrode into fine powder by using at least one of alloys comprising CaNi (5-x)Cux and CaNi(5-x)Crx as hydrogen occlusion material. CONSTITUTION:Calcium, nickel, and copper having a specified atomic ratio are heated, melted to alloy them, then crushed to obtain CaNi(5-x)Cux powder. Calcium, nickel, and chromium having a specified atomic ratio are mixed, and CaNi(5-x)Crx powder is obtained by the similar process. 80wt% CaNi(5-x)Cux powder or CaNi(5-x)Crx powder, 10wt% acetylene black conductor, and 10wt% fluorine resin binder are mixed, then molded on a condition of specified temperature and pressure to form a hydrogen occlusion electrode measuring 2cm in diameter and 1.2mm. in thickness. Thereby, deformation of crystal lattice caused by occlusion and desorption of hydrogen is decreased, and conversion of the electrode into fine powder is suppressed. |
