<p>The tool comprises a housing which locates a CO2 cartridge with it neck positioned to the capped and sealed by a movable piston in a cylinder attached to the housing. The piston has an axial passage through which a spike can enter the neck as the cartridge and spike are moved towards each othery by a clamp, so that the plug is pierced by the spike and pressure of gas from the cartridge is exerted from the cylinder on the back of the piston to hold it firmly against the cartridge. The tool can accommodate two cartridges side-by-side for simultaneous piercing by two spikes actuated by a single clamp. The piercing of the cartridge plug is automatic and positive without danger of gas leaks or of a cartridge being dislodged.</p> |
