An easily openable closure for a container of paper or thermoplastic resin material and comprising a cover sheet 11 having a openable or removable area 20, which is defined by a line of weakening formed by slots, indentations and/or perforations bridged and/or filled by an in situ formed strip of thermoplastics 27 having an integral pull-tab 30 for opening the container.
