PURPOSE:To form a discharging device capable of uniform destaticization and electrification by controlling the width of destaticization/electrification. CONSTITUTION:The length of a discharging electrode 4 is longer than an electrification width C-C' of a member 5 to be electrified, and the length of an induction electrode 3 is longer than the length of the discharging electrode 4. The electrification width of the member 5 to be electrified indicates the width in the direction vertical to the moving direction when the member 5 to be electrified is moved relatively to a discharging member 1. As a control means, a conductive metallic plate 9 having the same width as the discharging member 1 is arranged between the discharging electrode 4 and the member 5 to be electrified (desirably, close to the member 5 to be electrified) in the direction piercing the paper. The conductive metallic plate 9 is grounded through a constant voltage element 8 such as a varistor or the like and is kept at a certain potential and shields both end parts A and A' of the discharging electrode 4 from the member 5 to be electrified, and end parts 9a of the conductive metallic plate 9 coincide with both ends C and C' of the electrification width C-C'. |
