<p>PURPOSE:To prevent the whole magnetic disk device from a non-conforming article even in case when a filure is contained in part of a medium, by reserving a replacement use read/write head and a medium area, and providing a switching means for replacing them with a usual recording read/write head and a usual medium area, and using them. CONSTITUTION:When a failure part exists in a usual recording area corresponding to one read/write head, among four to ten read/write heads, the corresponding switch among 23 to 29 switches is opened, and a switch 30 is set to the corresponding selected position, by which instead of the usual recording area containing the failure part and the corresponding read/write head, an area reserved as a replacement use and the corresponding read/write head are used. In this way, even in case when a failure is contained in part of the medium, it does not occur that the whole magnetic disk device becomes a non-conforming article, and it is contributed greatly for making the magnetic disk device economical and realizing a short delivery.</p> |
