Single-blade propeller, and application of the latter to the production of a propulsion device for a ship, enabling cavitation effects to be reduced. The invention relates to a propeller comprising a single blade extending over a fraction of the circumference amounting to between 1/7 and 1/3 of the latter, with incorporated balancing means. The applications of the latter relate to the production of a propulsion device comprising several single-blade propellers: 2-A, 2-B and 2-C, offset either longitudinally on the same shaft, or laterally on different shafts, so that the streams of water which are brought about do not meet one another and do not generate amplifying cavitation effects. The device according to the invention is intended for the propulsion of ships equipped either with an internal or an external engine. <IMAGE>
