PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic head which is capable of recording with high resolution and high density and has no deterioration of characteristics for a long period of time, by using two layers of specific different materials with a gap material coated on both core halves and a glass film provided between both layers. CONSTITUTION:The 1st layer 22 containing at least one or more of Cr, Ti and Zr is formed on the gap surface of a core half 11 by a vapor deposition or sputtering process. Then the 2nd layer 24 of Cu or a Cu alloy is put on the layer 22. A glass film 32 having a low fusing point is put on the layer 24 by a sputtering process. Two core halves 11 are butted to each other via a glass material 34 of a low fusing point. Then the film 32 is fused by a heat treatment. Thus a magnetic head is obtained. This magnetic head has high resolution and high recording density with a reduced degree of deterioration of characteristics owing to addition of both layers 22 and 24. |
