The present invention relates to a universal corrector for ametropia of the eye. This corrector is characterised in that it comprises, in combination, in front of the eye, on the one hand a transparent support 2 on the front face of which is formed a highly reflecting surface 3 in the direction of the eye, whilst permitting vision in the other direction, this surface constituting as it were the equivalent of a two-way (non-coated) mirror, and on the other hand transparent point-like zones 4 in this surface which form diaphragms and create diffraction <<solid bodies>> inside which images are sharp. <IMAGE>
