The transmission system of an exercise bicycle includes a first drive shaft (31) mounted rotatably on the rear end portion of a frame and provided with foot pedal cranks (32) on two ends thereof, second and third drive shafts (61, 63) mounted rotatably on the frame, a one-way clutch (62) secured on the second drive shaft (61), a first sprocket (641) mounted securely on the first drive shaft (31), second and third sprockets (642, 643) mounted securely on the second drive shaft (61), a fourth sprocket (644) mounted securely on the third drive shaft (63), a fifth sprocket (645) mounted securely on an axle of a resistance wheel mounted rotatably on a front end portion of the frame, a first drive chain (651) trained between the first sprocket (641) and the one-way clutch (62), a second drive chain (652) trained between the second and fifth sprockets (642, 645), and a third drive chain (653) trained between the third and fourth sprockets (643, 644). The exercise bicycle has a pair of reciprocating arm levers (41) mounted pivotally on the front end portion of the frame and a pair of crank arms (42) each connected pivotally to a lower end of an arm lever (41) and to an end of the third drive shaft (63). <IMAGE>
