PURPOSE:A transparent liquid cosmetic for hair, having an improved low temperature preservability and exhibiting superior hair growing effect, prepared by dissolving higher fatty acids having an odd number of chain length, etc. and a nonionic surfactant having specific hydrophile-lipophile balance (HLB) value into a solvent such as ethanol. CONSTITUTION:A cosmetic for hair obtained by dissolving one or more selected from a higher fatty acid having an odd number of chain length or its derivative and a higher alcohol having an odd number of chain length or its derivative such as glycerol monopentadecanoate as a hair growing component and one or more of nonionic surfactant with <=10 HLB value such as sorbitan monoolaurate in ethanol or aqueous ethanol in 50-95wt% concentration as a solvent. EFFECT:The cosmetic is soluble in fat, easily penetrates into sebum coexisting with a hair fallicle secreted from a sebaceous gland, easily permeates into hair roots, is not catabolized by phosphofructokinase, is effective on an alopecia due to a hormonal action and has superior energy production efficiency.
