In a motor vehicle seat (1) which is longitudinally adjustable by means of at least one sliding rail (3) which is guided in a longitudinally displaceable fashion in a guide rail (2) and can be fixed in selectable positions, the upholstery carrier of the seat component can also be moved forwards, independently of this longitudinal adjustability, relative to the back rest (9) during forward folding of the said back rest (9) in the longitudinal direction of the sliding rail (3) and can be moved back into its initial position during folding back of the back rest (9). The upholstery carrier of the seat component is supported on an upper rail (4) which is guided in a longitudinally displaceable fashion in the sliding rail (3) and/or the guide rail (2) and to which the lower fitting component (6) of an articulated fitting (7) is coupled, and a locking element (8) is provided by means of which the lower fitting component (7) can be fixed in its rear limit position on the upper rail (4) in a positively engaging fashion. A lever (13) which bears at its free end a pin (14) which is guided in a slot guide (15) provided in the sliding rail (3) is rigidly connected to the lower fitting component (6) forming a double-armed pivot lever. <IMAGE>
