The invention relates to a landfill site which is provided with gas shafts which collect the resulting decomposition gases and remove them. The gas shafts are filled with waste materials forming hollow spaces, so that the decomposition gases can rise upwards through the hollow spaces and the seepage water can seep downwards through them.
