A roller press has a cylindrical pressing roller and a pressing shoe which can be pressed against the latter and which, with the roller casing of the pressing roller, has a concavely shaped pressing surface, to form a press nip of a particular longitudinal extension (in the direction of rotation). The pressing shoe is guided in a stationary supporting body, in which a pressure chamber which can be filled with a pressure medium is provided on the side of the pressing shoe located opposite the pressing surface. An endless sliding band rotating round the supporting body and guided through the press nip is fastened at each of its edges to a respective rotational body which is mounted rotatably on the supporting body. A larger lubricant flow and/or a lubricant of lower temperature is supplied in the region of the lateral edges of the pressing shoe than in the remaining region of the pressing shoe.
