The swivelling sash window (10) pivotable, for example, about a vertical axis (14) has a device, by means of which a translational displacement in the direction of the arrow (34) takes place in addition to the pivoting in the direction of the arrow (32), that is to say the window wing (10) can be displaced relative to the fixed frame (24) into the interior of the building or out of the building. The device for generating a translational displacement is preferably designed in such a way that an oscillating to-and-fro movement is obtained merely by pivoting the window wing (10), without a limit stop being provided.
