The holder consists of a cover (3,4,5) containing a number of samples in a stack (2), able to turn in the form of pages in a book and attached to the cover along one edge. The front cover (5) of the holder is in two articulated sections (5a,5b) hinged about a fold line (7) which lies parallel to the spine of the holder. The two sections can be of the same dimensions, and their facing surfaces can be connected by a flexible tape or folded strip. When the top cover of the folder is opened its two sections can be set at an angle and the samples laid on it one at a time for convenient viewing. In a variant of the design two stacks of samples can be mounted side by side on a double cover which folds with one half on top of the other when not in use.
