The winding shaft (10) consists of a rotating shaft tube (5) which is rotatably mounted on a continuous stationary support (1) on a plurality of bearings (6) distributed along its length. As the result of this, the mass moment of inertia of the rotating part is less than that of a solid shaft which rotates as an entity, and the winding shaft (10) can be accelerated and retarded more rapidly, so that critical speed ranges are quickly passed through. <IMAGE>
