摘要 A cam device drives a piston in a reciprocating movement synchronously with the rotation of an engine crankshaft. The cam device contains a cam projection with different inclinations. The extent of the piston displacement in relation to the angular position of the crankshaft reflects the different inclinations of the cam projection and is therefore adjustable. A working chamber is reduced when the piston moves in one direction and expands when the piston moves in the opposite direction. Fuel is fed to the working chamber from a pump chamber when the working chamber expands. Fuel is fed from the working chamber to the engine to be injected into the engine when the working chamber is reduced. An arrangement serves for the return of fuel from the working chamber to the pump chamber during a compression stroke in which the working chamber is reduced. A first device interrupts the fuel return in order to trigger the fuel injection at an adjustable first point, which determines the start of the fuel injection stroke. A second device triggers the fuel return in order to block the fuel injection at an adjustable second point during the compression stroke but later than the first point.
