PURPOSE:To enable ventilation with a simple structure and a minimum space by providing a needle which pierces through an ink container in a carriage when the container is attached to the carriage and setting a passage continuous from the interior of the container to an atmosphere in the needle. CONSTITUTION:An attachment spot for an ink container 4 is provided on a carriage 2 which mounts an ink jet head 20, and a needle 10 which pierces through part of the ink container 4 when the container 4 is fitted to the spot, is set in the spot. Then a passage 22 which is continuous from an air chamber in the upper part of the ink container 4 and an atmospheric chamber 13 is provided in the needle 10. |
