For a storage heater consisting of at least one storage element and at least one fan, the object is to provide a storage heater which is of simple construction and can be fed with all possible cheap heat sources, is able to retain heat without losses for a long time, and the emptied reservoirs of which are easily regenerated. The invention achieves this object in that the storage element is an adsorber in the form of a vessel in which a material is situated which adsorbs moisture from the air, and in that this adsorber is connected in two conduit circuits, one conduit circuit for the heating operation, with an air inlet and an air humidifier upstream of the adsorber and an air outlet in the room to be heated and also a fan, and a second conduit circuit for the regeneration, with an air heater, a condenser device and likewise a fan, valves being arranged in the conduit circuits which switch either the one or the other conduit circuit to the adsorber.
