In the case of a two-strand, two-pulse DC motor (10) without a commutator, driver transistors (44, 45) are provided for the output-stage transistors (52, 53) and are connected by means of one control electrode to a potential (point 47) which, for example, is half the applied DC voltage. These driver transistors are driven with a digital signal (41) from a Hall IC (32). In order to avoid a sudden changeover from one strand (25) to the other strand (26), each driver transistor (44, 45) has its own RC element (43', 46' or 43'', 46'' respectively). Pauses without current are thus produced between successive stator current pulses, which results in relatively soft switching of the output-stage transistors, so that the motor runs quietly. <IMAGE>
