The invention relates to a level-control and safety device for water-conducting domestic appliances, having a program-controlled water inlet electromagnetic valve and a shutoff valve which holds a permanent magnet in the opened rest position and can be closed by a flat diaphragm actuator which is connected to a pressure chamber which monitors the level of liquid in the tub of the appliance. For a simple and effective construction of the level-control and safety device, it is proposed that the shutoff valve (7), which can be actuated by the permanent magnet, is attached by its flat diaphragm actuator (19) to a stopcock (4) of a mains water supply, that an inlet hose (9) connects the outlet nozzle (8) of the shutoff valve to the water inlet electromagnetic valve (10) which is arranged on the machine side and can be switched as a function of the program, and that a control line (18) connects a pressure chamber (15), set to the filling level (12) of the tub (2), to the flat diaphragm actuator (19) of the shutoff valve (7).
