Antiviral protein, method for producing the same and pharmaceutical compositions containing such protein.

A protein, called IMP, recovered from the culture fluid of mitogen-stimulated leukocytes and purified until molecular homogeneity, appears to have a broad-spectrum antiviral activity similar to but slightly different from that of interferonbeta. It has a molecular weight of about 17000 daltons and a specified amino acid sequence. Methods of producing this protein and pharmaceutical utilisations thereof are suggested.
